Generating and Seeding Synthetic Data
The Seeding application offers a combined generate-seed functionality, eliminating the need for a seeding source. By utilizing both a Generate template and an anonymization template, a seeding job can automatically create specified synthetic data and then populate a sandbox with it. This process significantly streamlines development by providing relevant, meaningful test data for necessary objects directly in your sandbox. Consequently, you avoid the time-consuming tasks of manual data creation or copying data from production or other sandboxes.
Build your Generate template’s object node hierarchy as you do for a Nodes template, by adding each necessary object (root object nodes, child object nodes, and optional parent object nodes). Also, you must define a reference to an applicable anonymization template, which is used to generate the required, synthetic data.
Build your anonymization template with the necessary objects. You must configure the anonymization template with the same objects as in your Generate template. Make sure that the following fields are defined for each object with the necessary replacement value, as this value determines the synthetic data that is generated for the field:
-
All mandatory fields
-
All non-mandatory fields that you need synthetic data generated for them
- Generate Synthetic Data and Seed to a Sandbox Environment
Create and configure an anonymization template, or edit an existing anonymization template. This is the template that will be used to generate the required, synthetic data.
