Preview and Test In-App Guidance

Verify that the prompts and walkthroughs that you created appear correctly for the right users. Quickly preview a prompt or walkthrough in any environment. For in-app guidance in Lightning Experience, perform more thorough quality assurance testing for all prompts and walkthroughs that a specific user can see. Test mode ignores schedule settings, global time delay settings, and user interaction analytics. You can also test prompts and walkthroughs in a sandbox.

Available in: Lightning Experience

Available with a limited number of active walkthroughs in: Essentials, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions

Available with Enablement, which is available in Developer Edition with a limited number of add-ons and with Sales, Service, or Salesforce Platform in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Einstein 1 Sales EditionEditions for an additional cost

In-app guidance in Experience Cloud sites with Partner Enablement requires an Enablement add-on license and supported PRM add-on license.

Important Test mode doesn’t support in-app guidance in Experience Cloud sites.

1. From Setup, enter In-App Guidance in the Quick Find box, and then select In-App Guidance.
2. Preview a prompt or walkthrough.
   1. From the actions dropdown, select Preview.
      In-App Guidance Builder opens in preview mode.
   2. To make changes, click Edit.
      In-App Guidance Builder switches to edit mode.
   3. When you're finished, save your changes and click Done.
3. Test all prompts and walkthroughs for a specific user in Lightning Experience.
   1. On the In-App Guidance page in Setup, click Start Testing.
   2. Log in as a specific user, and go to the page or app where the in-app guidance appears.
   3. When you're finished, close the browser tab.
   4. To fix any issues you noticed during testing, return to the In-App Guidance page in Setup and select Edit from the prompt’s or walkthrough’s dropdown.

You can also check out in-app guidance in a sandbox. If you don’t see prompts and walkthroughs in your sandbox, turn on Adoption Assistance in Sandbox Orgs in the sandbox’s In-App Guidance page in Setup.
