Set Up Users to Send Invitations to Attendees from Lightning Experience and the Salesforce Mobile App
Setting up event invitations in Lightning Experience and the Salesforce mobile app requires one of our Microsoft® or Google integration products: Einstein Activity Capture or Lightning Sync.
Required Editions
Events are available in Salesforce Classic, Lightning Experience, and all versions of the Salesforce mobile app in Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. Einstein Activity Capture is available in Lightning Experience and all versions of the Salesforce mobile app in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions. Lightning Sync is available in Salesforce Classic, Lightning Experience, and all versions of the Salesforce mobile app in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. |
Starting in Winter ‘21, Lightning Sync isn’t available to new Salesforce customers. Use Einstein Activity Capture to sync events, contacts, and emails between your connected account and Salesforce.
If you have Lightning Sync, use the migration tool to move to Einstein Activity Capture before Lightning Sync retires in April 2027.
If you use Lightning Sync with Microsoft Office 365 and Exchange Web Service (EWS) as your authentication method, complete your migration by August 2026 to avoid service disruption. In October 2026, Microsoft retires EWS for Microsoft 365 and replaces it with Microsoft Graph API. After migrating to Einstein Activity Capture, upgrade to the Microsoft Graph authentication method. See Upgrade Microsoft Office 365 Authentication Method to Microsoft Graph in Einstein Activity Capture.
This change affects all orgs except those using Government Cloud.
First, make sure that you meet either the Einstein Activity Capture system requirements or Lightning Sync system requirements.
Then, complete setup for your chosen product.
- If you choose Einstein Activity Capture, set up events to sync in one of these directions: Salesforce to Exchange, Salesforce to Google, or Both Directions. Review Set Up Einstein Activity Capture.
- If you choose Lightning Sync, set up events to sync in one of these directions: Salesforce to Exchange, Salesforce to Google, or Both Ways. Review See the Big Picture for Setting Up Lightning Sync for Microsoft® Exchange or See the Big Picture for Setting Up Lightning Sync for Google.
Now when syncing event organizers add attendees to events, an invitation is sent from organizers’ Microsoft or Google accounts. Attendees with Microsoft or Google calendars can accept or decline invitations from those applications. Einstein Activity Capture or Lightning Sync then syncs attendee responses to Salesforce so that other reps with access to the event can see attendance statuses.
