Edit an Inbound Lead Generation or Lead Nurturing Agent

Edit an Inbound Lead Generation or Lead Nurturing Agent

After you set up and activate an Inbound Lead Generation or Lead Nurturing agent, you may find that you want to make changes to it later. To edit an existing agent, you can create a new version of the agent or update an existing version.

          Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Sales and Einstein for Sales.
          User Permissions Needed
To set up Inbound Lead Generation: Configure Inbound Lead Generation Agent
To set up Agentforce Lead Nurturing: Configure Agentforce SDR Agent

These are some of the reasons you might want to edit an agent:

          • To make changes to the agent's behavior
          • To add newly introduced Agentforce features to your agent. Some features can be added only by creating a new version of your agent.

To make changes to an agent, you can create a new version of your agent, adjust the settings, and then activate the new version. When you make a new version of an agent, all of the existing agent settings are copied to the new version. You can then edit the settings and test the agent’s behavior with the Preview window before activating the new version. The current active agent version remains active until you activate a new version.

When you edit an agent version in Agentforce Builder instead of in Salesforce Go, you can no longer edit the version in Salesforce Go. In Salesforce Go, you can see agent versions you’ve customized in the Builder, but you can’t edit them in Salesforce Go.

For example, if you make changes to the subagents or actions, or add a flow action in the Builder, you won’t be able to edit that version in Salesforce Go.

When you make a new version of a Builder-customized agent in Salesforce Go, the new version won’t include the changes made in the Builder. New versions always use the default subagents and actions included with the agent template, either Lead Nurturing or Inbound Lead Generation. Any customizations made in Agentforce Builder need to be manually re-created in the Builder for a new agent version.

When Salesforce introduces a new feature for the Lead Nurturing or Inbound Lead Generation agent templates, you won’t be able to edit an existing agent version until you either update it to the newer enhanced agent template or create a new version. The new version will include the newest features.

There are some agent settings that affect all versions of an agent when changed.

          • Agent Name
          • Agent User
          • Nudge settings (Lead Nurturing only)
          • Send as Seller (Lead Nurturing only)
          • Require Manual Approval (Lead Nurtuting only)
          • Prospect assignment rules for leads, contacts, and person accounts (Lead Nurturing only)
          • Operating Hours (Lead Nurturing only)

To make changes to the settings for an agent:

          1. In Setup, enter Salesforce Go in the Search box and then click Salesforce Go.
          2. Choose Sales Cloud from the Cloud menu.
          3. Click Agentforce for Sales.
          4. Expand the Lead Nurturing or Inbound Lead Generation section.
          5. Choose the agent you want to update. The menu indicates which version of the agent is active, if any.
          6. Choose the agent version you want to edit or clone from the Version menu for the agent.
          7. To edit a verison:
            1. To make changes to an inactive version, click Edit or New Version.
            2. To make changes to an active version, click New Version, or deactivate it and then click Edit.
            3. To update a version to include new Agentforce enhancements, click Update. A version must be inactive to be updated.
          8. Update the agent settings and use the Preview window until you are satisfied with your changes.
          9. Save the new version.
          10. Activate the new version when you're ready.
