Create a Consumption-Based Forecast Type

You configure a consumption-based forecast type by selecting the data source for your forecast, setting up forecast rollups, choosing columns to display, and selecting the date type for forecast calculations. After you complete the setup, the forecast type appears as a tab on the forecasts page, where your teams can view and forecast revenues.

Before you configure a consumption forecast type, make sure you configure the required permissions and set up Data 360.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Forecasts Settings, and then select Forecasts Settings.
  2. In the Available Consumption Forecast Types section, click Add a Forecast Type.
  3. Fill in the details in each section and save your changes.
  4. To complete the setup flow, click Save & Close.
    The new forecast type appears in the list of Available Consumption Forecast Types on the Forecasts Settings page. Your new type has an inactive status.

    Tip

    To activate the forecast type immediately, click Save & Activate.

  5. To make the new forecast type available on the forecasts page, return to the Forecasts Settings page and select Activate from the quick actions for the forecasts type. You can have up to four active forecast types at one time. To edit an active forecast, such as choosing the columns to display, or changing forecasts roll-up, click Edit from the quick actions list for the active forecast.

    Deactivating a forecast type deletes the related forecasting data.
