          Considerations for Generating Leads

          Considerations for Generating Leads

Before generating leads with Web-to-Lead or LinkedIn Lead Gen, review a few key points.

          Required Editions

Available in: Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience
Available in: Essentials, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions

          Web-to-Lead

          • Date and currency fields captured online are formatted based on your Default Locale and Currency Locale settings.
          • The limit for Web-to-Lead requests is 500 requests per day. If the number exceeds the limit, the Default Lead Creator specified in Setup receives an email informing them the daily limit has been exceeded.
          • If a new lead can’t be generated due to errors in your Web-to-Lead setup, Salesforce Customer Support is notified so we can help you correct it.
          • Salesforce provides the standard Web-to-Lead form but doesn’t support viewing or editing forms. To modify a Web-to-Lead form, update the HTML code on your website directly or create another form.
          • Salesforce runs field validation rules before creating records via Web-to-Lead. If any field values aren’t valid, no lead record is created.
          • All universally required fields must have a value before Salesforce can create a record via Web-to-Lead.
          • Salesforce doesn’t support Rich Text Area (RTA) fields on Web-to-Lead forms. If you use RTA fields on your forms, any information you enter in them is saved as plain text when the lead is created.
          • Salesforce retains the original format of email addresses for web-generated leads. For example, JohnDoe@gmail.com is saved as is, not as johndoe@gmail.com.
          • Web-to-Lead forms don’t validate the email address field. To validate email addresses of web-generated leads, create a validation rule for the Email field on leads.

          LinkedIn Lead Gen

          • Before you turn on LinkedIn Lead Gen, turn on Web-to-Lead. Turn off reCAPTCHA for Web-to-Lead.
          • To make sure that leads are created in Salesforce from LinkedIn, assign a Default Lead Creator in Setup.
          • The limit for leads added from LinkedIn is 500 leads per day. If the number exceeds the limit, the Default Lead Creator specified in Setup receives an email with the additional leads.
          • Changing the field type of fields you map for LinkedIn Lead Gen can cause the mapping to fail.
          • Salesforce retains the original format of email addresses for LinkedIn-generated leads. For example, JohnDoe@gmail.com is saved as is, not as johndoe@gmail.com.
