Considerations for Using the Enhanced User Experience

Know what to expect from the enhanced Salesforce Maps framework. It delivers dramatic performance improvements when your reps plot high-volume data including ArcGIS Online layers and complex shape layers, and it gives your reps access to modernized list views.

Impacted Feature Area Differences and Availability
          The map
          • The map doesn’t support data layers that include custom or self-hosted data sources from imported files.
          • For overlapping markers, the webbed effect isn’t available. Instead, overlapping markers appear in a cluster.
          • For non-English locales, some content appears in English.
          • To load the map, the enhanced framework requires browsers with WebGL2 enabled.
          • The map and marker popups don’t include street views.
          • Hovering over markers doesn’t show details from the Title field.
          • Salesforce Maps doesn’t support CORS, COEP, or COOP—if enabled, map features may not load or work correctly.
          Marker layers
          • For labeled and numbed pins, only their markers are clickable.
          • To prevent cluttered pin labels at certain zoomed levels, marker layers show only pin labels that don’t overlap.
          • Heatmap visualizations appear slightly different.
          Layers
          • For shape layers that include individual boundaries, pin labels appear center-justified, regardless of justification settings. But for shape layers that include merged boundaries, pin labels appear based on the justification settings.
          • Territory layers aren’t available.
          • Polyline layers aren’t yet available.
          • To show just the markers inside a shape, select the options Shape is visible and Only show markers inside shape.
          • Legend rows for layers don’t sort in descending order.
Clusters Rendering clusters in the enhanced Salesforce Maps framework use different scattering breakpoints than in the standard framework.
          Folder permissions

Salesforce Maps determines folder access when copying data to other users’ folders.

          • With Folder Permissions disabled, users get create and modify rights
          • With Folder Permissions enabled, users get create and modify rights only if the role hierarchy is active, and the user who initiates the Copy To function includes subordinate users. In addition, getting create and modify rights requires that the users’ whose folders you copy data to are included in the list of subordinate users.
          Toolbar
          • Esri basemaps replace all Google basemaps on desktops but not on the Salesforce mobile app.
          • Esri base maps include the addition of the Esri Hybrid basemap.
          • When your reps draw polygons, lines can’t intersect. Drawn polygons from the original framework appear read-only.
          • The undo action isn’t available for polygon drawing tools.
          Proximity-based URL parameters
          • If the URL includes proximityRadius or proximityUnit, you can omit the proximityOn=true parameter.
          • If the URL includes either proximityRadius or proximityUnit and not both, values come from the settings for whichever user clicks the URL.
          • If the URL specifies proximityAffectMarkerVisiblity, but not proximityRadius or proximityUnit, values come from the settings for whichever user clicks the URL.
          POI results
          • The enhanced framework includes data from different vendors, which means that search results can vary when compared with the legacy framework.
          • Marker popups don’t include ratings.
          • Some search terms aren’t available.

Cross-origin security settings (CORS, COEP, COOP): Not supported with Salesforce Maps. If enabled, maps may not load correctly (for example, missing markers or failed map actions). Disable these settings before further troubleshooting.

Permission sets for Salesforce Maps include added metadata. If you cloned and customized any Salesforce Maps permission sets, account for these additions.
