Carefully review these considerations before setting up Enhanced Bots.

Required Editions

General

  • Enhanced bots connect to Enhanced Chat, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp enhanced Messaging channels, and to Slack and the Einstein Bots API. Enhanced bots are subject to Messaging channel specifications and don’t use Chat-only features.
  • To route to service reps, bots, queues, and skills, enhanced bots use Omni-Channel Flow. To route to Slack and the Einstein Bots API, enhanced bots use connections. Enhanced bots support direct bot-to-bot transfers to other enhanced bots only.
  • To preview an enhanced bot, use Text Preview.
  • Bot templates are supported for either standard or enhanced bot types. You can create an enhanced bot only from templates created with the enhanced bot type or created from an existing enhanced bot. To learn more about custom templates, visit Create an Einstein Bot Template.
  • You can’t create an enhanced bot from the Intro Template, but you can clone a standard bot created from the Intro Template as an enhanced bot. See Clone a Standard Bot as an Enhanced Bot.
  • Post-chat URLs aren’t supported for enhanced bots.
  • Bot session inactivity time limits depend on the channel type.

    • Enhanced Chat: 2 hours
    • Third-party enhanced channels: 8 hours

Inactive sessions can extend up to five minutes beyond the limit because the process that closes inactive sessions runs every five minutes.

Messaging Components in Enhanced Bots

  • Support for messaging components varies by channel. To verify support for a component, review support for rich content in Messaging channels and considerations for messaging components.

    • The authentication, custom, and payment components are supported only for enhanced Apple Messages for Business channels. The form component is supported for Apple Messages for Business and Enhanced Chat.
    • The Einstein Bots API doesn’t support messaging components.
  • Custom constants in messaging components aren’t supported. To prevent bot performance issues, remove custom constants from messaging components before activating your bot.
  • Translation of messaging components and the bot dialog steps that reference them isn’t supported.
  • The authentication, custom, form, and payment components and the bot dialog steps that reference them can’t be previewed in text preview.
