Clone and Assign Page Layouts
When you complete the steps in Set Up the Basics in Salesforce Go, you can clone page layouts and assign them to specific user profiles. Clone and assign page layouts to efficiently give your admins, dispatchers, and technicians access to the information and tools relevant to their job function.
| Available in: This feature is available in Lightning experience in Salesforce Go. Contact your Salesforce Account Representative for more information. |
The out-of-the-box (OOTB) page layouts are cloned from the managed package, instead of being modified directly. This best practice preserves your implementation from being affected by future updates to the OOTB configuration. By automating this step, you not only save manual effort but also ensure long-term stability. Additionally, the one-click activation lays the foundation for other Go features that modify/add to the cloned page layouts. For instance, the work order feature adds fields and related lists to the cloned page layouts.
The following page layouts are cloned in Salesforce Go:
- Service Appointment Layout
- FSL Operating Hours Layout
- FSL Work Order Layout
- FSL Work Order Line Item Layout
- FLS Service Work Type Layout
- FSL Service Resource Layout
A page layout is created for each of the three user profiles: technicians, system admins, and dispatchers. The naming convention is as follows:
ProfileName + ObjectName + "Layout"
- A profile name can be "System Administrator", "Field Service Technician" or "Field Service Dispatcher".
- An object name can be "Service Appointment", "Operating Hours", "Work Order", "Work Order Line Item", "Work Type" or "Service Resource".
Page layouts are created by combining the profile name and the object name. For example, "Field Service Technician Service Appointment Layout" or "System Administrator Work Order Layout".
