Work Type Fields for Field Service
Work types have the following fields. Some fields may not be visible or editable depending on your page layout and field-level security settings.
Required Editions
| Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience |
| The Agentforce Field Service and Operations core features, managed package, and mobile app are available in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. |
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Auto-Create Service Appointment | Select to automatically create service appointments on work orders or work order line items that use the work type. Note
|
| Description | The description of the work type. Try to add details about the task or tasks that this work type represents. |
| Document Template – Service Appointment | The document template ID. If ServiceDocumentTemplateId isn’t specified, this document template ID determines which service document template is used for service documents generated from a service appointment. The ID is 15 to 18 characters long. |
| Document Template – Work Order | The document template ID. If ServiceDocumentTemplateId isn’t specified, this document template ID determines which service document template is used for service documents generated from a work order. The ID is 15 to 18 characters long. |
| Document Template – Work Order Line Item | The document template ID. If ServiceDocumentTemplateId isn’t specified, this document template ID determines which service document template is used for service documents generated from a work order line item. The ID is 15 to 18 characters long. |
| Duration Type | The unit of the Estimated Duration: Minutes or Hours. |
| Estimated Duration | The estimated length of the work. The estimated duration is in minutes or hours based on the value selected in the Duration Type field. |
| Exact Appointments | If selected, service appointment time slots reflect the time needed for the work rather than a time window in which the work occurs. This setting is useful, for example, for work types such as office or showroom visits that have an exact start time. |
| Minimum Crew Size | The minimum crew size allowed for a crew assigned to records using the work type. If you’re using the Field Service managed package, the Service Crew Resources Availability work rule enforces the minimum crew size requirement when scheduling and optimizing appointments. For example, if the Minimum Crew Size is set to 1, the rule ensures that appointments can be scheduled only to crews, not individual resources, unless the 'Assign Service Appointments to Individuals and Crews' checkbox is selected. If you’re not using the Field Service managed package, this field acts as a suggestion rather than a rule, and appointments can be scheduled for both individual resources and crews, regardless of the Minimum Crew Size. Note This field is hidden for all users by default. To use it, update its
field-level security settings and add it to your work type page
layouts. |
| Name | The name of the work type. Try to use a name that helps users quickly understand the type of work orders that can be created from the work type. For example, “Annual Refrigerator Maintenance” or “Valve Replacement.” |
| Recommended Crew Size | The recommended number of people on the service crew assigned to the record using this work type. Note This field is hidden for all users by
default. To use it, update its field-level security settings and add
it to your work type page layouts. |
| Service Report Template | The service report template associated with the work type. If you choose not to specify a service report template on a work order, it uses the service report template listed on its work type. If the work type doesn’t list a template or no work type is specified, the work order uses the default service report template. The same is true for work order line items. |
