Billing Considerations for Data Cloud Enrichments

Usage of enriched related lists and copy field enrichments impacts credit consumption.

          Tip
          Tip

This feature has access to Digital Wallet, a free account management tool that offers near real-time consumption data for enabled products across your active contracts. Access Digital Wallet and start tracking your org's usage. To learn more, see About Digital Wallet.

Enrichments directly generate usage only in the categories listed below.

Data Cloud enrichments are supported by other Data Cloud data services that function independently of the enrichments and may serve additional purposes. Enrichments don’t generate new usage for these underlying services. Each of these services is billed on its own schedule and at its own rate.

For more information on how Data Cloud usage is billed, refer to your contract or contact your account executive.

          Data Services Data Queries

Usage is calculated based on the number of records processed.

The count of records processed depends on the structure of a query as well as other related factors such as the total number of records in the objects being queried.

Salesforce queries Data Cloud every time a Salesforce user loads a page with an enriched related list.
Data Services Data Federation or Sharing Rows Accessed

For data federation, usage is calculated based on the number of records retrieved from the source. For a data share, usage is calculated based on the number of rows returned to fulfill an external data lake’s request.

For data sharing between Data 360 orgs, this usage type applies to the target org for all queries.

For external data shares, this usage type applies only to cross-cloud and cross-region queries. There’s no credit consumption if the query originates from the same region and the same cloud.

If a related list enrichment includes data from a federated data source, and query acceleration is disabled, then the federated source is queried every time the enriched related list loads.

          Reduce Related List Enrichment Costs

To reduce the cost of Data Cloud services used in related list enrichments, optimize underlying services with these approaches.

          • Define Filter Criteria—Make sure that your filter criteria is defined to avoid unnecessary costs. We recommend restricting the criteria to the use case that you’re trying to support per enrichment.
          • Monitor and Optimize—Regularly monitor credit consumption and adjust your configurations as needed to optimize performance and stay within budget constraints.

For more information on how usage is billed, refer to your contract or contact your account executive.

Direct Billing Points for Copy Field Enrichments

          Data Services Data Queries

Usage is calculated based on the number of records processed.

The count of records processed depends on the structure of a query as well as other related factors such as the total number of records in the objects being queried.

Data queries are used to copy data from Data Cloud to Salesforce object records.

When a copy field enrichment is created, Salesforce queries Data Cloud for data to store in the copied field.

After initial setup, copy field data, updates are identified by batch queries and synced into your records incrementally.

          Reduce Copy Field Enrichment Costs

To reduce the cost of Data Cloud services used in copy field enrichments, optimize underlying services with these approaches.

          • Clearly Define Requirements—Clearly define the specific data points you need in order to enrich your CRM records. This helps ensure efficient data ingestion and avoids unnecessary costs.
          • Optimize Calculated Insights—Focus on building efficient Calculated Insights by minimizing the number of Data Cloud records involved. This reduces processing costs and improves performance.
          • Monitor and Optimize—Regularly monitor credit consumption and adjust your configurations as needed to optimize performance and stay within budget constraints.

For more information on how usage is billed, refer to your contract or contact your account executive.
