The amount of detail that you see and the kinds of things you can do on a group’s page depends on a few things. The group type; your membership, your ownership or management of the group, and your group role all affect what you can do.

          Non-Members of Public Groups

If you’re viewing the group detail page of a public group that you’re not a member of, you can:

          • Post an update or add a comment, and click Share.
          • To join the group, click Join.
          • View group description and information. The group description and information appear in a separate column next to the feed.
          • View the group's members. The Group Members section shows the group's current members, including external customers who are members of the group.
          • View, download, and search files posted to the group. Files posted to the group feed or shared with the group appear in the Group Files section.
          • View the topics the group is talking about. The group's topics appear under posts in the group feed.
          • Search for group information.

          Non-Members of Private Groups

If you're viewing the group detail page of a private group that you're not a member of, you can only:

          • Ask to join the group. To request to join a group, click Ask to Join. This action sends an email to the owner and managers of the private group.
          • View the group's picture and description.
          • View the group's members. The Group Members section shows the group's current members, including any external customers who are members of the group.

          Nonmembers of Unlisted Groups

If you're not a member of an unlisted group, you can’t view the group detail page.
