Setting Up Heroku External Objects with Salesforce Connect

Integrate data from a Heroku Postgres database into Salesforce by using Heroku External Objects and Salesforce Connect. While the data remains in Heroku Postgres, this integration allows the data to be read from within Salesforce. Also, the data can often be written to within Salesforce.

To relate External Objects using External IDs: ModifyAllData and PrivacyCenter

Salesforce Connect makes it easy to integrate data stored outside your Salesforce org into the Lightning Platform. External objects are available to Salesforce tools, such as global search, lookup relationships, record feeds, and the Salesforce mobile app. Heroku External Objects is a Heroku Connect feature that provides an OData wrapper for a Heroku Postgres database configured for use with Heroku Connect. This configuration allows other web services to retrieve data from the specified Heroku Postgres database using RESTful endpoints generated by the wrapper. When used together, data in a Heroku Postgres database is represented in a Salesforce deployment, where it can be viewed, searched, and related to other objects.

For more information, read Heroku External Objects with Salesforce Connect in the Heroku Dev Center.
