Salesforce Shield
Salesforce Shield is a suite of security products that builds extra levels of security, compliance, and governance into your business-critical apps. You can access them through Setup or the Shield app.

| Data Detect | Use Data Detect to scan your org and Data Cloud for sensitive data, and then take steps to protect it. You can also expedite data categorization by aligning data sensitivity levels and categories to actual field data. |
| Event Monitoring | Event Monitoring surfaces detailed performance, security, and usage data on all your Salesforce apps. See who's accessing data and how, detect anomalous usage events, and build policies that proactively keep data secure. Understand, troubleshoot, and optimize performance to improve the end-user experience. You can also visualize Event Monitoring data using Salesforce tools or import it into third-party data visualization or application monitoring tools. |
| Field Audit Trail | Use Field Audit Trail to know the state and value of your data for any date at any time. You can use it for regulatory compliance, internal governance, auditing, customer service, and forensic data-level audit trails. Field Audit Trail is available via API or the Shield App. |
| Shield Platform Encryption | Shield Platform Encryption natively encrypts data at rest across all of your Salesforce apps. Encrypt your full database or individual fields, adding another layer of protection to personally identifiable information (PII) and sensitive, confidential, or proprietary data. You maintain full control over encryption keys and can generate and store key material outside of Salesforce. |
The Shield App
The Shield app is a central starting point where you can access and monitor Shield services. It provides shortcuts to your existing configurations in Setup, as well as a direct interface for certain features. Over time, features can sometimes migrate to the app from Setup, but their status and functionality remain the same.
The Shield app includes Setup Assistants that help you kickstart and maintain your implementation for each product. It also provides insights about critical features and activities in your org, including usage metrics, data trends, and job statuses. To get the most out of Shield, we recommend launching your day-to-day tasks from the app.
