Add Payment Methods
Accounting Subledger doesn't include default payment methods on transaction journal records. Add them on the object while making sure that they match the methods on your source object.
- From the object management settings for transaction journal, go to Fields & Relationships.
- Search for and then select Payment Method.
- In the Payment Method Picklist Values section, click New.
- Enter one payment method per line.
- Save your changes.
Create Adjustment Transaction Journal Records
Sometimes, accounting teams want to track payment method changes on the source records. To do so, configure Accounting Subledger to generate new transaction journal records with the updated payment method, and reclass records for the accounting data that you generated previously.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Accounting Settings, and then select Accounting Settings.
- Turn on Create Adjustments When Payment Method Changes.
If you have transaction journal records that you don't want reprocessed, consider these options.
- Change your Accounting Records Start Date to a future date so that the existing records don't generate additional ones.
- Update the payment method on existing records to the new method using a tool such as Salesforce Data Loader. This option can be complex, so we recommend it for advanced admins and only after you test it in a sandbox. See When to Use Data Loader.
