Set Up the Academic Operations App

Configure Academic Operations to create academic courses and programs, define learning outcomes, manage academic schedules, configure rules, and more.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Set Up Education Cloud, and then select Set Up Education Cloud.
2. Under Set Up the Academic Operations App, turn on Academic Operations. If prompted to confirm, click Turn On.
3. To set up the learning objects, expand the dropdown menu.
   1. Under Create Learning Achievement Record Types, click Create Record Types and then create at least three record types.
      1. In Object Manager, on the Record Types page for Learning Achievement, click New.
      2. On the New Record Type page, choose the Existing Record Type as Master.
      3. Enter the record type label as Learning Course.
      4. Enter the record type name as Learning_Course.
      5. Optionally, provide a description for the record type.
      6. Select Active.
      7. Select the profile permissions, and then click Next.
      8. Save your work.
      9. Repeat these steps to create Learning Program and Achievement Group record types. If you’re using Einstein Skills Generator, create a Skill record type.
      10. If required, create additional record types such as degree and diploma.

   2. To map learning achievement types to record types, under Set Up Learning Achievement Configuration, click Set Up Learning Achievement Types.
      1. Click New Learning Achievement Configuration.
      2. Enter a name for the configuration and then press Tab to automatically populate the API name. For example, enter Learning Course.
      3. For Learning Achievement Type, select Learning Course.
      4. For Learning Achievement Record Type, select Learning_Course.
      5. Enter any other details, and then save your changes.
      6. Repeat to create learning achievement configurations named Learning Program and Achievement Group. If you’re using Einstein Skills Generator, create a learning achievement configuration named Skill.
      7. If required, create custom learning achievement configurations such as degree and diploma.

         Note Every learning achievement type requires at least one learning achievement configuration record. The Learning Course, Learning Program, and Achievement Group learning achievement configuration records can’t be deleted.

4. Update the sharing settings on objects required for the Program Plan Builder:

   1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Sharing Settings, and then select Sharing Settings.
   2. Under Default Sharing Settings, click Edit.
   3. Modify the default internal access for these objects:

      Object	Default Internal Access
      Learning	Public Read/Write
      Learning Achievement	Public Read Only

      You can also control this access with Sharing Rules. Anyone who creates program plans needs sharing and edit access to the relevant learning objects.

   4. Make the Linked Only field visible for the Learning Course object.
      1. From the object management settings for learning courses, go to Fields & Relationships.
      2. Click Linked Only.
      3. Click View Field Accessibility.
      4. In the Field accessibility for Field dropdown, select Linked Only.
      5. In the System Administrator row, click Editable.
      6. In the Field-Level Security area, select Visible for the System Administrator profile.
      7. Click Save.
