Set Up Virtual Appointments With AWS Chime

Set Up Virtual Appointments With AWS Chime

After you configure Salesforce Scheduler for Education Cloud, set up virtual appointments with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Chime SDK to add audio and video capabilities to the learners' portal.

          Editions Needed
          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with Education Cloud

Make sure that your Salesforce Scheduler setup includes user permissions and appointment data configuration. See Set Up Salesforce Scheduler for Education Cloud and Set Up Appointment Data Manually.

When staff members join an AWS Chime call, they have the moderator role, which gives them more control over the meeting than learners who join as regular attendees. For example, moderators can mute all participants, or end the meeting for everyone.

As a best practice, meeting hosts should always verbally inform attendees at the start of the meeting or in advance of the meeting if they are going to record it. We recommend that meeting attendees be informed how the video will be recorded, used, and shared.

Meeting hosts should also offer attendees options to participate without having their image or voice recorded, such as allowing them to attend with no video or audio, and the option to pose questions only in the text chat window. There are numerous reasons a meeting participant may choose to have their video or audio off, including but not limited to: fatigue from constant video engagement, concerns about personal appearance, competing obligations to care for family members, desire for privacy about their physical location or with whom they live, weak or lack of internet connection, and more. All of these may disproportionately affect historically marginalized or underrepresented communities.
