Sample Uses for Attendance Event

Changes in a student's attendance might indicate that something's going on in their life that could affect their educational success. For example, consistent tardiness or absence is an early warning indicator that a student might need intervention to stay on track to pass a course or graduation. The Attendance Event object can be used to track attendance.

• University—Track the number of days and reasons that a student's missed a specific course.
• K-12—Track a student's tardiness or absence for a class period or an entire day and the reasons.

• Any educational institution—Determine a student's total participation during a term. Generate reports on the frequency of such events.

Configure Attendance Event

Consider these updates, depending on which version of Education Data Architecture you originally installed.

Create an Attendance Event Record

Create an attendance event record from a student’s contact record.

1. From the student’s Contact record, click New in the Attendance Events related list.

2. Enter a date for the tardy or absence. Don’t change the Contact name.

3. Fill in optional fields as needed.

4. Click Save.
