          Course Offering Schedule

          Course Offering Schedule

Course Offering Schedule relates a Course Offering with a Time Block, allowing for class schedule variations in the locations and days of a specific offering.

          • Sample Uses for Course Offering Schedule
Course Offering doesn't always meet at the same time or in the same place every day of the Term. You can use the Course Offering Schedule junction object, often with the Time Block object, to track such variations by relating the Course Offering with multiple schedules.
          • Configure Course Offering Schedule
Consider these updates, depending on which version of EDA you originally installed.
          • Create a Course Offering Schedule Record
Create Course Offering Schedule records to represent the variations in a class schedule (locations, days of the week, times of day) for a Course Offering during a specific Term.

          Tip
Tip If your class schedule follows a simple Monday through Friday routine, without alternating days or more complex schedule requirements, you likely don't need to use the Course Offering Schedule object. You can simply use a combination of Course Offering, Time Block, and Facility (if needed) to model your class schedule.
          • University—Track the daily variation in locations and times of next quarter's offering of Chem 102: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1-2 PM in Lecture Hall A, and Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-3:30 PM in the adjacent lab facility. In this case you'd create a Course Offering Schedule for the first group of classes and another Course Offering Schedule for the labs, and both Course Offering Schedules would look up to the same Course Offering.
          • K-12—Track alternating schedules, with one set of classes on "A" days and another set of classes on "B" days, and class schedules rotating between A and B days on a certain time cycle. Course Offering Schedules can be configured along with Time Blocks to accommodate A/B blocks with standard periods, with flex days and times, and the many other variations found in middle and high schools.

Create a Course Offering Schedule Record

Create Course Offering Schedule records to represent the variations in a class schedule (locations, days of the week, times of day) for a Course Offering during a specific Term.

By definition, a Course Offering Schedule is always related to a Course Offering. You can expect to create multiple Course Offering Schedule records to represent a course being offered on different days of the week, in different locations, and during different blocks of time.

          1. From the Course Offering record, click New in the Course Offering Schedules related list.
          2. Fill in details as needed to account for one unique combination of location, days of week, and times of day for a given class schedule. Don't change the Course Offering.
            Tip
Tip Choose to use either the Start and End Time fields, or the Time Block field—but not both.
          3. Click Save & New to create additional records for additional combinations, or click Save after you've entered the last combination.
          Note
Note See Create Time Block Records for information about using Time Blocks with Course Offering Schedules.
