          Overview

In EDA 1.114 (Summer '21), EDA introduced the Education Cloud Settings page. This is a single location for all settings, tools, and resources that you need to manage your Education Cloud org.

Use Education Cloud Settings to access:

          • EDA Settings for org-wide administration of the Account model, contact information, Relationships, Affiliations, Courses and Enrollments, Errors, and system tools.

          • Settings Health Check to identify configuration inconsistencies or errors in EDA Settings and related settings in Setup.

          • Release Management to review and activate the latest EDA release.

          • Links to resources such as Trailhead, the Trailblazer Community, and the Salesforce.org YouTube channel.

          Configure Education Cloud Settings

The steps to configure Education Cloud Settings vary depending on the version of EDA that you started with.

          • If you started with a trial org of EDA version 1.114 (Summer '21) or later, you’re ready to use Education Cloud Settings.

          • If you started with a version of EDA before 1.114, grant Apex class access, create the Education Data Architecture app, which includes configuring the Education Cloud Settings tab. Then, verify access to the app for all profiles and remove access to the previous EDA app. Finally, verify access to tabs for all profiles, especially System Administrator.

          • If you started with EDA 1.114 or later using the installer, you already have the Education Data Architecture app and the Education Cloud Settings tab. You just need to verify tab access for all profiles requiring it as described in this article.

          Note
          Note

If you’re using a custom Lightning app instead of the EDA app, enable the Education Cloud Settings tab for that app.

          Before You Begin

These changes affect how your users access EDA. Be sure to notify them before implementing them in your production org so they understand how to access EDA. Also be sure that My Domain is enabled in your org by going to Setup, then searching for and selecting My Domain. You won’t be able to access Education Cloud Settings if it’s not. To learn more, see My Domain in Salesforce Help.

          Grant Apex Class Access

To access the Education Cloud Settings tab, users require access to certain EDA Apex classes. Depending on the EDA version that you started with, the System Administrator profile sometimes already has access, but we recommend verifying access for all profiles that need them, and for permission sets as needed. For a list of the Apex classes, see Enable EDA Apex Class Access.

Create the Education Data Architecture Lightning App

You can only access the Education Cloud Settings tab from a Lightning app, but the EDA app released before version 1.114 was a Classic app. If you started with EDA before 1.114, create the Education Data Architecture Lightning app.

          1. From Setup, search for and then select App Manager.

          2. Click New Lightning App.

          3. For App Name, enter Education Data Architecture and press Tab to automatically populate Developer Name with Education_Data_Architecture. Then, click Next.

          4. Accept the Standard navigation style and Desktop and phone form factors. Don't specify any Utility Items. Then, click Next.

          5. Specify the items you want to display as tabs in the Education Data Architecture app. Include Home, Accounts, Contacts, Courses, Terms, Course Offerings, Program Plans, Trigger Handlers, and Education Cloud Settings.

          6. Click Next.

          7. Specify profile access to the app. Start by granting access only to the System Administrator profile, so you can verify that the app is working before you make it available to more users.

          8. Save your changes.

          Note
Note As you configure the Education Data Architecture app, make sure that the access you provide to the new app matches what you provided for the earlier EDA app.

Grant Education Data Architecture App Access

After verifying that your Education Data Architecture Lightning app works as desired, add users to it.

          1. From Setup, search for and select App Manager.

          2. Click the action menu for Education Data Architecture and select Edit.

          3. On the User Profiles page, add required profiles to Selected Profiles.

          4. Save your changes.

          Note
Note To make the EDA app a user's default app, specify it in the Custom App Settings of the desired profile.

          Remove EDA App Access

Hide EDA, the Classic managed app that predates the Education Data Architecture Lightning app released in EDA 1.114, in the App Launcher.

          1. From Setup, search for and select App Manager.

          2. Click the action menu for EDA and select Edit.

          3. In Assign to Profiles, deselect Visible for all profiles.

          4. Save your changes.

          Verify Tab Access

If you started with a version of EDA 1.114 or earlier using the installer, verify that all profiles have access to the tabs that they need.

          Note
Note The steps to verify tab access depend on whether you've enabled the Enhanced User Profile Interface in the User Management Settings. For details, see Enable the Enhanced Profile User Interface in Salesforce Help.

If you've disabled Enhanced User Profile Interface:

          1. From Setup, search for and select Profiles.

          2. Click a profile name, such as System Administrator.

          3. Click Edit.

          4. In Custom Tab Settings, verify the settings for the selected profile. For example, for the System Administrator profile, verify that Education Cloud Settings is set to Default On and that EDA Settings is set to Hidden.

          5. Save your changes.

If you've enabled Enhanced User Profile Interface:

          1. From Setup, search for and select Profiles.

          2. Click a profile name, such as System Administrator.

          3. Click Object Settings.

          4. Click Education Cloud Settings, and then click Edit.

          5. Under Tab Settings, select Default On and save your changes.

          6. Click Object Settings.

          7. Click EDA Settings, and then click Edit.

          8. Under EDA Settings, select Tab Hidden and save your changes.
