Application management in EDA relies on several custom objects for modeling an applicant's information, education history, and qualifications—namely Application, Affiliation, Education History, Test, and Test Score.
First, let's summarize the basics of these admissions-focused objects.
The Application object is related to the Contact who represents an applicant to an institution or a program. It can also be related to the Contact who prepares an Application on behalf of the applicant Contact.
An Application record is always for a specific program, and often for a specific Term.
The Education History object relates the Contact to the educational institutions (Accounts) where they've studied.
The Test and Test Score objects help you track testing-related data such as standardized tests and entrance exams, if your institution accepts test score data. A Test Score record is a child of a Test record.
Let's see an example of how an applicant's data records can be structured in EDA. Student Madison Hadzic is a senior at Daisy Bates Academy, applying to Connected University for undergraduate admission in the 2021-2022 Fall Term. Here's how the Admissions team has tracked her budding relationship with Connected University, starting from the time that Madison first came on the university's radar. Each table summarizes what type of record was created, and when, and why.
