Sample Uses for Term Grade
Term Grades are intended for tracking student grades. You can use them to mark grade milestones for a single Course Connection that spans multiple Terms, or multiple grade milestones for a single Term.
You can track Term Grades using numerical, percentage, or letter values. Let's look at some possible uses for the Term Grade object.
- University—Specify the grade that a student receives for a Course they’re taking for a specific period of time. For example, create a Term Grade record for a midterm grade, another for a final grade, and, if needed, one for a corrected grade.
- K-12—Specify grades for a full-year Course. For example, if a student is enrolled in a Course that spans a full year, create one Term Grade record for Semester 1 grading period, and another for Semester 2 grading period. And create a Term Grade record for the final grade for the Course itself.
- Online institution—Track self-paced online courses with a series of eight-week Terms that have a Term Grade record associated with each.
Tip When considering using Term Grade:
-
Don’t use Term Grades as a general gradebook for assignments, quizzes, and the like. Instead, use Term Grade records to track key grades for a given Term, like mid-term exams or final grades.
-
Create your own Type of Term Grade for any specific grading period within a Term.
-
Track the final grade a student receives for a specific Course Connection with the Grade field on a Course Connection instead of Term Grade.
