Create a Gift Transaction in Nonprofit
Create a gift transaction for a one-time gift payment, an installment of a gift commitment, if an installment doesn’t exist, or for a non-revenue gift. Fundraising automatically creates a gift transaction when you create a gift entry or schedule a gift commitment.

| To create a gift transaction: | FundraisingAccess permission set OR |
- From the App Launcher (
), find and select Gift Transactions. - Click New.
- Specify these details.
- Specify a name for the transaction record.
- From Gift Type, select Individual or Organizational/Household.
- Select a donor. Note For an Individual gift type, select a person account as the donor. For organizational/household, select a business account.
- Complete the payment information for the gift transaction. If you're logging this transaction
days after receiving it, you can backdate the transaction to the date on the
check or the date it was received.Note A payment method of ACH or credit card, and at least the Last 4 field populated, adds a payment instrument lookup to the schedule. This lookup creates a payment instrument record if none previously existed.
- In Original Amount, enter the amount of the gift transaction. To record a non-revenue transaction, set the payment amount to zero.
- Save your changes.
