Provide a Full or Partial Refund in Nonprofit

Create a refund to ensure that the associated gift transaction contains the complete transaction history. Return the full or a partial gift amount to the donor. Use refunds to resolve gift entry mistakes or to honor a donor's request to reverse their gift.

          User Permissions Needed
          To create gift refunds:

          FundraisingAccess permission set

          OR

Modified Education Cloud Full Access permission set

          1. From the App Launcher (App Launcher), find and select Gift Transactions.
          2. Click the paid gift transaction that you want to process a refund for.
          3. Click Related, and in the Gift Refunds section, click New.
          4. Enter the refund amount and the refund date.
          5. Select the refund status.
            Note
Note When you select Completed and save the refund, Salesforce updates the refund amount and the current amount fields on the related gift transaction. The original amount on the related gift transaction does not change.
          6. Save your changes.
          7. In the gift transaction record, update the status field as needed.

Your Salesforce admin can add a validation rule that verifies the accuracy of the status update.

For example, if the refunded amount doesn't match the original amount, a validation rule ensures that the status can't be set to Fully Refunded.
