Import Recurring Donations and Installment Opportunities

Import Recurring Donations and Installment Opportunities

Learn how to bring existing recurring gift data into NPSP.

You should be familiar with editing spreadsheets and using a data import tool such as Data Loader.

If you're using Elevate for your online donations, see Import Recurring Donations Overview.

          Setup—Before You Begin

          1. Confirm that you've upgraded to Enhanced Recurring Donations. See Which Version of Recurring Donations Am I Using?

          2. Confirm that you've enabled Automatic Recurring Donation Naming. Alternatively, you can plan to include Recurring Donations Names in your import spreadsheet.

          3. Confirm that you've mapped Recurring Donation Fields to Opportunity Fields.

          Import Records

          Note
Note The field values in the Recurring Donation entry form are slightly different than what's stored in the database. For example, there is no Donor Type field on the Recurring Donation object. Review the Recurring Donation object schema before you build your import spreadsheet.
          1. Prepare your Recurring Donation spreadsheet for import.

            1. If you don't want NPSP to create a future, open Opportunity for your Recurring Donations, include Disable First Installment = TRUE for all rows in your spreadsheet.

          2. Import your Recurring Donation records. It's a good idea to import just a few records the first time so you can confirm that your data and field mapping is correct.

          3. Prepare your Opportunity spreadsheet for import. Here are some important considerations:

            1. You only need to import past Opportunity records. NPSP automation takes care of future installment Opportunities.

            2. Decide if you want NPSP to create a default GAU when you import your Opportunity records. Check the Default Allocations Enabled setting in NPSP Settings.

          4. Import your Opportunity records. It's a good idea to import just a few records the first time so you can confirm that your data and field mapping is correct.

          After You Import

          1. In NPSP Settings | Bulk Data Processes, run the Recurring Donations Batch to update Recurring Donation rollup fields.
