          Enable and Configure Features for Volunteer Management

          Set up the components and tools that give you deeper insight into your volunteer data and provide robust automation around volunteer management processes.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
          Available with: Enterprise, Unlimited and Developer Editions where Volunteer Management is enabled.
          User Permissions Needed
          To turn on Salesforce common components: Manage Volunteer Data permission set
          1. Set up Action Plans— Define the required tasks for a process such as a volunteer initiative or other activities.
            Actions plans can be applied to the Application Form, Position, and Job Position objects.
          2. To create and review applications, set up Form Framework.
          3. Add Form Framework components to Lightning Record Pages.
          4. To track stages for certain objects, set up Stage Management.
            Stage Management can track stages for these objects.
            • Volunteer Initiative — For example, track an initiative’s progress through stages and internal approvals, from upcoming and in progress statuses, to completion.
            • Job Position Assignment — For example, track assignments that need approvals or that need hours approved.
            • Job Position Shift — For example, track stages to prepare internally for when a shift is upcoming or completed.
            • Job Position — For example, track stages to support the job positions, from development to fulfillment, and the internal review processes.
            • Position — For example, track stages to support positions, from development to fulfillment, and the internal review processes.
            • Application Form — For example, track stages to review and approve applications.
          5. Add Stage Management components to Lightning Record Pages.
          6. Set up an approval process for your volunteer initiatives.
          7. As a prerequisite to creating an Experience Cloud site, Enable Digital Experiences.
          8. Create an Experience Cloud site.
            A volunteer portal helps volunteers complete tasks. For example, a portal built on an Experience Cloud site can provide a place for volunteers to register, complete onboarding, attend training or continuing education, view and sign up for volunteer opportunities, upload documentation, and track the hours they’ve volunteered.
