          Archive Activities Tab

          The Activities tab opens the Activities Table in the default list view of logs in the Archive app. You can create your own custom list views to filter and sort this information.

          Default View Fields
          Field Description
          Archive Policy Definition Name given to the policy upon creation.
          End Time Time and date when the action ended.
          Failed Count Number Total number of records not processed.
          Name

          Unique name of the Salesforce activity.

          To view the Archive Activity ID, and access further actions, click the name.

          Policy Type

          Process type that the policy runs.

          Valid values are:

          • Archive
          • Import
          • Purge
          Progress Bar showing a colored scale of the status.
          Root Entity Name Object archived.
          Status

          Status of the current activity.

          • Aborted: Policy manually aborted during policy run.
          • Aborting: Aborted process has started.
          • Archive Timeout: Process automatically stopped because it took too long to run a specific task or the entire run.
          • Completed: Process completed successfully, and all records were processed.
          • Discarded: All records from this import activity were moved to the Recycle Bin.
          • Ended with Delete Failures: Process finished its run but failed to delete one or more designated items.
          • Ended With Errors: Process finished successfully, but some records weren't processed. You can download a CSV of the failed records from the Execution Details‌ page.
          • Failed: Process failed, and no records were archived. A CSV of the failed records is available.
          • Interrupted: Process was paused temporarily or moved due to system resource availability. The system automatically attempts to resume the task up to 10 times from the last saved state.
          • Max Interruptions: Process was abandoned after reaching the limit of 10 system interruptions and tries again.
          • No Records: Process ran successfully but found no records matching the policy criteria.
          • Pending: Process is in a queue waiting to run.
          • Process Exceeds 23h: Activity started and ran successfully until it reached a time limit. When a policy is set to run daily, this status indicates partial success before exceeding the time limit.
          • Process Exceeds 120h: Activity started and ran successfully until it reached a time limit. When a policy is set to run one time in a 5-day period, this status indicates partial success before exceeding the time limit.
          • Process Exceeds 168h: Activity started and ran successfully until it reached a time limit. When a policy is set to run weekly, this status indicates partial success before exceeding the time limit.
          • Query Timeout: Process stopped because the database query took too long to run.
          • Running: Process is actively running its tasks.
          • Started: Process was initiated and is in progress.
          • Too Many Failures: Process was abandoned after too many records failed to read or delete.
          Succeeded Count Number of root records successfully processed.
          Total Record Count Total Total number of records processed.

          Action performed from these available actions.

          Review Process Details and Reports

          After you click the Activity name, the page opens on the Details tab. You can see detailed metrics and download reports for that activity. When available, you can also run the Retry Unarchive and Undo actions.

          Note The top of the page shows the Archive Activity ID. This ID is required for support cases.

          These reports are available for an activity.

          • Download Execution Details: Report showing every record that the process attempted to process, including successes and failures.
          • Download Failed Records: Report showing only the records that failed to process. Use this report to identify records and perform remediation.

          Details tab fields include:

          Fields Description
          Attempted Root Records Count Total number of root records, skipped root records, and failed records.
          Failure Reason Description why record or activity failed, if applicable.
          Record Size in MB Estimated total size, in megabytes (MB), of the processed records.
          Skipped Root Records Count

          Total number of root records that were skipped intentionally.

          For example, data that is protected from being archived by using the Salesforce Data Protection Period setting.

          • Undo an Archive Operation
            Salesforce admins can undo any completed Archive operation and restore records in the Archive app.
          • Abort an Archive Operation
            Abort a running activity in the Archive app. This process is identical for Unarchive and Export activities.

          Undo an Archive Operation

          Salesforce admins can undo any completed Archive operation and restore records in the Archive app.

          Users need the Archive Enable Unarchive permission set.

          1. Go to the Activities tab.
          2. From the dropdown list, select All Logs.
          3. Locate the operation that you want to undo.
          4. From the dropdown list, click Undo.

          Abort an Archive Operation

          Abort a running activity in the Archive app. This process is identical for Unarchive and Export activities.

          Common use cases for aborting a running activity include:

          • The process is taking too long to complete.
          • You ran the activity by mistake.
          Archive Abort Permission Sets
          Archive Abort Archive Activity Permission to abort running archive activity with Started status.
          Archive Abort Export Activity Permission to abort running export activity with Started status.
          Archive Abort Unarchive Activity Permission to abort running unarchive activity with Started status.
          1. Go to the Activities tab.
          2. Select the activity with a Started status that you want to abort.
          3. Click the Activity name and select Edit.
          4. Click Abort.
          5. In the window, select a reason for aborting the operation from the dropdown list.
            This step is mandatory. The reason selected appears in the downloaded CSV file.
          6. Click Abort.
          7. Go to the Activities tab and view the Status column. Valid values for Status include:
            Aborted: Abort operation has completed, or operation hasn't started yet.
            Aborting: Abort operation is in progress. The process can take up to 90 minutes. During this period, any ongoing bulk record processing is canceled and the details of the abort process are logged in the CSV file.

            Note If you click Abort quickly, Status can change from Started to Aborted, skipping Aborting altogether.

          8. From the Execution Details column, download the CSV file.
            This file provides information on what records were processed before the Abort action was triggered.
