          Inventory Allocation

          Inventory Allocation

Inventory Allocation enables organizations to soft reserve inventory for diverse demand sources such as Sales Orders and Work Orders, while maintaining visibility into on-hand, allocated, and available inventory. It ensures inventory is reserved, prevents over commitment, and provides accurate inventory visibility even during high-volume, concurrent transactions.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Automotive Cloud, Communications Cloud, Energy and Utilities Cloud, Manufacturing Cloud, and Media Cloud. View edition availability.
          Note
Note Inventory allocations are soft reservations. The system doesn't prevent allocated quantities from being used in other processes, such as product transfers. Those transactions consider only the Quantity on Hand.
          • Inventory Allocation Workflow
Salesforce admins enable and configure Inventory Allocation by turning on required features, assigning user permissions, and adding the Inventory Allocation component to Order and Work Order record pages. Order managers create inventory allocations, define product fulfillment locations to automate source selection, and track allocations on product item records.
          • Inventory Allocation Setup
Set up and configure Inventory Allocation to automate or manually manage the allocation of product items.
          • Manage Inventory Allocation
Use Inventory Allocation to monitor allocation status, adjust quantities as needed, and ensure inventory is correctly reserved, released, or consumed based on business demand.
