Use Work Order Estimation
Assess costs and required effort before starting any field service work to provide reliable quotes and plan efficiently. You can estimate field service work for various work sources such as assets (for example, repair and extension work), quote items or order items within existing sales quotes and orders (for example, installation of these items), and work types under specific work type groups (for example, network and infrastructure expansions).

Launch the work order estimation from Accounts, Assets, Sales Quotes, Orders, or Work Type Groups. Choose specific work sources such as Assets, Quote/Order Items, or Work Type Groups, and add work types to be estimated for these work sources.
You can edit existing work orders, re-estimate tasks, and initiate or merge quotes as needed. You can also book, reschedule, or cancel service appointments for work orders and their child work orders generated as part of work order estimation.

Start the Work Order Estimation process.
You can start Work Order Estimation based on the work source type for which you want to create a work estimate. Here are the different ways you can start Work Estimation:
Account: Start from an account to create work estimates for assets, quotes, orders, or work type groups.
Asset: Start from an asset to create work estimates for that specific asset. If necessary , you can add more assets.
Quote: Start from a sales quote to create work estimates for Quote Line Items (QLIs) within that quote, such as installation work for broadband internet QLIs.
Order: Launch from a sales order to create work estimates for Order Products within that order, such as installation work for a generator.
Work Type Groups: Launch from a Work Type Group to create work estimates for non-asset/QLI/order product-related tasks, such as network and infrastructure expansion work.
Work Order: Launch from a Work Order (WO), introduces an additional step that displays the existing WOs based on the following:
- If the launched WO is a parent, it's child WOs are listed with the parent in the Existing WO top panel.
- If the launched WO is a child (or both parent and child), its siblings are listed, and its parent appears in the top panel.
- If the launched WO is standalone, it's listed and also shown in the Existing WO top panel.
Users can select one or more WO listed and proceed to create a new Quote. This brings all the work sources of those WOs.
For example, to create a Work Order Estimate for an Asset:
- From the App Launcher, search for and select Assets.
- Open the asset for which you want to create a work order estimate.
- From the overflow menu, select Work Order Estimation.
NoteLaunch options on records are available only if you have set up the work order estimation launch. For more information, see the launch topic.
When creating a work order estimate, avoid mixing different work source types. Ideally, each work order estimate should have only one type of work source.
