Understand Salesforce Use Cases and Limitations

As a highly customizable platform, consider Salesforce use cases and limitations during implementation.

One of the benefits of Salesforce is how customizable it is to support your business, its processes, and your team. Availability can be impacted if your org is implemented without following Salesforce's recommendations and knowing the platform’s limitations.

Before implementation, determine how your company plans to use Salesforce and how those plans align with the intended use of the platform. Use Salesforce Help and Salesforce Developer Documentation to learn how Salesforce recommends implementing and using specific features and products. For specific use cases that aren’t documented in Salesforce Help, consult with the Trailblazer Community to glean best practices from other customers in similar situations. You can also use the AppExchange to find experts and ready-made solutions.

Additionally, understand the different limitations that Salesforce purposefully set. For example, because the Salesforce platform is a multi-tenant environment, transaction and governor limits exist to prevent code and processes from monopolizing shared resources. Knowing these limits exist and what the limits are is important to ensure that your org runs efficiently and reliably and is highly available.
