Export Data from a Backup
You can export data from backups made with the Salesforce Backup app. Exports are helpful when you want to reference historical data, values, or information models. You can also use exported backups to complete larger or more complex data restoration projects.

You can export object data and related records. Use this method if a schema change, such as a new or deleted field, prevents a record from being automatically restored.
- From the App Launcher, find and select Backup and Restore.
- From the Restore tab, select an object and restore filters.
- Click Show Backups.
- Select any related records that you want to include in your export, and then click Next.
- Optionally, select related object data.
- Click Export, and confirm your choice.The export begins. Review the export’s status on the Logs page. You receive an email when your export finishes.
Exported CSV files save to Files in Salesforce. Larger files take longer to download. After your download finishes, review and import the data with a tool such as Data Loader or the Data Import Wizard.
Export Files from a Backup
To review or restore files backed up with the Salesforce Backup managed package, first export them. You can review exported files, or import them with a tool of your choice.
Make sure to review your available file storage before you start. When you export files from a backup, it adds those files back to your Salesforce org and consumes file storage. Existing versions of those files aren’t deleted.
- In the Salesforce Backup app, on the Restore & Export tab, select Export Files.
- Click Show Backups.
- In the window that opens, confirm your choice.An export of all of your file backups begins. Review the export’s status on the Logs page. When the download finishes, you receive an email.
- Download the ZIP file directly from your email, or follow the link to preview your file in

Exported files are available in your Files in Salesforce.
