You are here:
Cancel a Redemption Transaction
You can reverse a redemption transaction for various reasons, such as a product return, a canceled order, and when a member wants to cancel a redemption. After you reverse a redemption transaction, the points redeemed by the member are credited back to the member.
Required Editions
| Available in: Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Developer, and Unlimited Editions that have Loyalty Management enabled. |
You can only cancel the transaction journals whose status is Processed and that have Loyalty Ledger records associated with it. If you either delete or archive Loyalty Ledger records, you can't reverse the associated transaction journals.
- From the Loyalty Management App navigation menu, click Transaction Journals.
- Select a transaction journal with the redeemed points that you want to cancel, and click Reverse Transaction.
-
Select the expiration date on which the points credited back to the member must
expire.
If you have the Loyalty Management setting to automatically add the points expiration date for canceled redemptions turned on, you don’t need to specify an expiration date. The expiration date of the points credited back to the member is automatically set as the date on which the points were supposed to expire before the points were redeemed. If there are trace ledgers associated with the transaction journal, the system prioritizes the expiration date from the trace ledgers.
-
Select the category for reversing the transactions.
Note The default category is Product Returned, Order Canceled, and Accrual Cancellation Requested by Member. However, you can add new values to the category for canceling the transactions. - Enter any specific comments for reversing this particular transaction.
- Click Reverse Journal.
After the transaction is reversed, a Redemption Reversal type transaction journal is created. The Redemption Reversal type transaction journal credits the points that were debited from the member by the reversed transaction. The member’s points balance is automatically updated if the settings to update member’s points balance in real time are turned on. If the settings aren’t turned on, the member’s points balances are updated by the Credit Non-Qualifying Points to Members and the Credit Qualifying Points to Members Data Processing Engine definitions.
