            Honor your constituents’ wishes when they request only specific forms of contact from your institution or opt-out of certain types of data-sharing.

            Required Editions

            Available in: Performance, Enterprise, Unlimited Editions, and Developer

            Many data protection and privacy regulations require you and your institution to honor people’s requests about how you use their data. We’ve listed a few of the regulations that are important to many institutions collecting and processing their constituents’ data.

            • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), European Union
            • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), United States
            • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), United States
            • Canada’s Anti-Spam Law (CASL)

            If you have constituents or users who request specific methods of contact from your institution, review these common requests and the procedures related to them.

            Common Customer Request Actions to Consider Things to Consider
            An applicant or student has informed you that they don’t want to receive calls, emails, or postal mail from your institution.

            Manage Leads

            Delete information in phone, mobile, and email fields for lead, person account, and contact records.

            In those records, select Do Not Call.
            Some of your applicants and students don’t want to hear from your institution, unless they specifically opt in.

            For person accounts, contacts and leads, consider these options:

            • Email Opt Out
            • Do Not Call

            Consider deleting phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses, unless your constituents give you consent to use them. Refrain from sending marketing materials.
