          Create a Loyalty Program Currency

          Create a Loyalty Program Currency

Create qualifying or non-qualifying currencies associated with a program.

          Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience in EnterprisePerformance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions that have Loyalty Management enabled.
          User Permissions Needed
To create a loyalty program currency:

          Loyalty Management permission set

          AND

          Manage Loyalty Programs permission set

          1. On the Loyalty Programs tab, select your loyalty program.
          2. On the Setup tab, under Loyalty Program Currencies, click New.
          3. Enter a name for the currency.
If you want to use currencies as resources in conditions of loyalty program process rules, make sure that currency names don’t contain special characters.
          4. Select one of these as the currency type.
            • If you want to measure the level of engagement of a member within a loyalty program and assess a member's tier for upgrade or downgrade, select Qualifying.
            • If you want the members to earn points that can be redeemed, select Non-Qualifying.
          5. To activate the currency, select Active.
          6. If you want to make this program currency the primary currency, select Primary.
If your loyalty program has multiple currencies, select a currency as primary to ensure that automated processes can identify the currency in which to credit or debit points.
          7. If you want to escrow points for this currency, select Has Escrow.
If you select Has Escrow, points earned by a member for this currency stay in escrow and roll over to the member’s points balance only when the escrow period is over. The escrow period for all currencies in a loyalty program is the same and is specified in the associated Loyalty Program record.
          8. To allow members to have a negative balance for the currency, select Allow Negative Balance.
You can select this checkbox only if Has Escrow isn’t selected.
          9. To enable currency tracing, see Enable Tracing and Create Currency Subtypes to Control Liability.
          10. For Qualifying Currency, select a loyalty tier group.
          11. For Non-Qualifying Currency:
            • For Expiration Model:
              • If you want the points to expire on a specific date of the year, select Fixed
              • If you want the points to expire only when the member becomes inactive in the program, select Activity.
If the member regularly performs activities, such as accruals, redemptions, or transactions, the member is considered active in the program. Determine a member's inactivity by using Last Activity Date in the member record.
            • If you select the fixed expiration model, specify the Extend Expiration type:
              • If you don’t want to extend the expiration date, select No Extension.
              • If you want to extend the expiration date to the last day of the month, select Till End of Month. For example, if a member attains Gold tier status on January 10, 2021, and the tier period is set as one year, then the Gold tier expires on January 10, 2022. By enabling Extend Expiration, the member can retain the Gold tier until the last day of the month, or in this case, January 31, 2022.

            • Enter the Expiration Interval, and then select a value for the Expiration Interval Unit.
            • If you want to capture the cost per point to calculate the liability of your program or promotion, enter the cost per unit.
          12. Save your changes.
