Create a Promotion
You can create loyalty promotions and use reward vouchers and loyalty points to acquire new customers or engage existing customers. You can define the type of the promotion, the loyalty program associated with the promotion, whether enrollment is required for the promotion, and the promotion’s start and end dates. You can also define how to reward the members upon fulfilling the requirement of promotion by vouchers or credit points, and the status of the promotion.

- In the Loyalty Programs tab, select your loyalty program.
- On the Loyalty Experiences tab, click Promotions.
- In the Promotions, click New.

Provide these details, and then save the changes:
Field Description Name Enter the name of the promotion. Description Enter the description for the promotion. Objective Enter the business objective of the promotion. Loyalty Program Select the loyalty program associated with the promotion. Fulfillment Action Decide how members are rewarded for fulfilling promotion requirements:
- Credit Points: Rewards the member with points.
- Issue Voucher: Rewards the member with vouchers.
Loyalty Promotion Type Select a promotion type:
- Standard: Provides immediate benefits to loyalty program members.
- Cumulative: Rewards program members based on their participation frequency or spending.
- Joint: Jointly promotes partners’ products and services and engages
members.
Joint promotion is available only for Expanded Partner Management.
Active To activate the promotion, select Active. If you're creating a joint promotion, you can activate the promotion only when the contributing percentage of all partners reaches 100%.

Transaction Journal Type Select the type of member activity for which the promotion is applicable:
- Accrual: Select if you want to apply the promotion when members are credited points for an activity.
- Redemption: Select if you want to apply the promotion when members redeem points for an activity.
Cumulative Usage Target If the loyalty promotion type is Cumulative, enter the number of times a member must participate or the amount of money that must be spent to qualify for a reward.
Use the Cumulative Usage Target field in the loyalty program process rule or in a flow to decide when a member must be rewarded for a cumulative promotion.
Campaign Enter the campaign associated with the promotion. The campaign field is optional for promotions whose target audience is selected using Data Cloud segments. Image URL Upload the promotion’s marketing image. To display the image on an external website, enter an image URL. Ensure that the webpage that hosts the image is publicly accessible. Points With Factor If the fulfillment action is Credit Points and if you want to decide the number of points to credit members based on a multiplier, select the field. Reward Points If the fulfillment action is Credit Points and if you want to credit members with a fixed number of points, enter that number of points you want to credit as promotion reward to eligible members.
Use the Reward Points field in the loyalty program process rule or in a flow to decide the number of points to credit in the Credit Points action.
Current Point Count Store the count of points credited as reward to eligible members as promotion reward.
Admins can create a custom process to update this value whenever the members are credited points for the promotion.
Point Factor If the fulfillment action is Credit Points and if you want to decide credit members with a fixed number of points, enter the points multiplier.
Use the Point Factor field in combination with another value in the loyalty program process rule or in a flow to calculate the number of points to credit in the Credit Points action. For example, you can create a formula to multiple the point factor with the transaction amount to calculate the number of points to credit.
Default Voucher Definition If the fulfillment action is Issue Voucher, select the voucher definition that’s used to issue vouchers to eligible members. Maximum Voucher Count If the fulfillment action is Issue Voucher, enter the maximum number of vouchers that can be issued as reward by the promotion.
Use the Maximum Voucher Count field in a loyalty program process or in a flow to check whether the promotion’s voucher limit has been met before issuing another voucher.
Issued Voucher Count Store the count of vouchers issued as a reward to eligible members as a promotion reward.
Admins can create a custom process to update this value whenever the members are issued vouchers for the promotion.
Maximum Liability Count Enter the maximum liability that the loyalty program can incur to reward eligible members of the promotion. Current Liability Count Store the loyalty program’s liability incurred until the current date for providing eligible members with the promotion reward.
Admins can create a custom process to update this value whenever members are rewarded by the promotion.
Start Date Select the date from which the promotion can be applied for member activities. End Date Select the date until which the promotion can be applied for member activities. Enrollment Required Select if you want members to join the promotion before they’re eligible for the promotion’s reward.
Admins can configure a custom process to allow members to join the promotion.
Enrollment Start Date Select the date from which members can enroll for the promotion.
