Salesforce Cosmos Theme and SLDS 2 Availability
Salesforce Cosmos is the first theme available in Salesforce Lightning Design System 2 (SLDS 2). Salesforce Cosmos was released as beta in Winter ’25 with the temporary name Enhanced Lightning User Interface (UI). It's a new design that makes Salesforce simpler to use with circular patterns, easy-to-understand icons, new colors, and better typography. SLDS 2 Limitations
Although SLDS 2 is generally available, some of its features are available as beta features.
- The default Salesforce Cosmos theme and SLDS 2 are generally available (GA), but some related features are beta or are available in a limited capacity, like dark mode. Beta features can have limitations, which can impact user experiences.
- Enabling Salesforce Cosmos doesn’t automatically enable SLDS 2 features, such as dark mode. Specific SLDS 2 features are enabled separately.
- Some Salesforce products are built on platforms other than Lightning. If Salesforce Cosmos isn't available, users continue to see the default UI that they’re used to.
