Salesforce Cosmos Theme and SLDS 2 Availability

Salesforce Cosmos is the first theme available in Salesforce Lightning Design System 2 (SLDS 2). Salesforce Cosmos was released as beta in Winter ’25 with the temporary name Enhanced Lightning User Interface (UI). It's a new design that makes Salesforce simpler to use with circular patterns, easy-to-understand icons, new colors, and better typography. Salesforce Cosmos is the default theme of Salesforce Lightning Design System 2.

Not all Salesforce apps and features are fully optimized for dark mode yet, including:

          • Analytics, reports, and dashboards
          • Rich text editors and their outputs
          • Builders

          Note

Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer's sole discretion.

SLDS 2 and Salesforce Cosmos are available for all new orgs and are turned on by default for these editions. They are also available for all existing orgs as an opt-in through Themes and Branding for the same editions.

Products Not Currently Supported to Use SLDS 2

Currently, we don't have plans to support Salesforce Cosmos or SLDS 2 in some Salesforce products and add-ons.

          • Salesforce mobile app
          • Builders, such as Flow Builder and Lightning App Builder
          • Lightning Out
          • Experience Cloud

          SLDS 2 Limitations

Although SLDS 2 is generally available, some of its features are available as beta features.

          • The default Salesforce Cosmos theme and SLDS 2 are generally available (GA), but some related features are beta or are available in a limited capacity, like dark mode. Beta features can have limitations, which can impact user experiences.
          • Enabling Salesforce Cosmos doesn’t automatically enable SLDS 2 features, such as dark mode. Specific SLDS 2 features are enabled separately.
          • Some Salesforce products are built on platforms other than Lightning. If Salesforce Cosmos isn't available, users continue to see the default UI that they’re used to.
