Add Objects to a Data Management Policy

Add Objects to a Data Management Policy

To define which records your Data Management Policy masks or deletes, add one or more objects. You can apply unique record filters and data transformation rules to each object on a policy.

Required Editions

Available in: Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions. Requires the Privacy Center license.
User Permissions Needed
To create, edit, and schedule Data Management Policies: Manage Privacy Center Policies

Before you begin:

  • Review Considerations for Processing Objects.
  • These objects and data types aren't supported in Privacy Center.
    • External objects
    • Big objects
    • Setup objects
    • Unstructured data (such as data within an attached PDF)

Complete these tasks for each object that you want to add to a policy.

  • Filter Records on an Object
Specify records to process with your Data Management Policy by selecting an object and setting filter conditions. You can process records that meet any condition, all conditions, or a custom arrangement of conditions.
  • Mask or Delete Records on an Object
Define how an object’s records are masked or deleted from your org, and determine how related files and attachments are handled.
  • Retain Records on an Object
Choose whether you want to copy records to an external data store for retention.
