Loyalty Tier Groups

One of the ways to measure member engagement is to set up qualifying points. Qualifying points are awarded for various activities that members perform as part of the loyalty program. Use tier groups to group members based on their qualifying points. Qualifying points are associated with a tier group. You can use qualifying points to identify the most valuable members in a tier group. A loyalty program can have more than one qualifying point.

The key elements of a loyalty tier group:

• Tier Model influences the start date of the qualifying period. Tier groups can be one of two types: Fixed model or Anniversary model.
  • In the Fixed tier model, the qualifying period for all loyalty program members starts and ends on preset dates. The qualifying point balance for all members is reset to zero at the end of the qualifying period.
  • In the Anniversary tier model, the qualifying period starts on the day the member joins the loyalty program and ends on the member’s enrollment anniversary. Anniversaries are counted in months or years.
• Tier Period is the period after which a tier assessment is done. A tier assessment determines whether a member is eligible for a tier change. The tier period along with Extend expiration defines the expiration date for a tier.
• Qualifying Period defines the cycle for tier recognition. The qualifying period is the period after which a member’s qualifying point balance resets to zero and the member starts earning qualifying points from the beginning. If there’s a tier group that has multiple qualifying currencies, all the currencies adhere to the same reset cycle.
• Extend Expiration allows you to postpone the end of a tier period until the last day of the month, the same date as qualifying points reset date, or the member anniversary date. Or no extension is provided.
