Create Data Layer Variables in Google Tag Manager (Managed Package)
For the managed package runtime, creating data layer variables lets you create fewer and more versatile event tags.
This information is for Omnistudio for Managed Packages. For Omnistudio on standard
runtime, see Omnistudio Help.

- From the Google Tag Manager account page, click Variables.
- Under User-Defined Variables, click New.
- Change the variable name at the top of the page from Untitled Variable to Event Category Variable.
- Click Variable Configuration and choose Data Layer Variable as the type.
- In the Data Layer Variable Name field, type category.
- Click Save.
