A loyalty program can have multiple currencies. Members can accrue or redeem points of
multiple currencies for each partner transaction. To calculate the partner’s credited or debited
points, the loyalty program and the partner decide the conversion factor for the currencies that
are used in partner transactions. The conversion factor applies to both prepaid billing and
postpaid billing.

To calculate the partner’s credited or debited points, both the loyalty program and the
partner decide the conversion factor for the currencies involved in partner transactions.
Based on partnership type, a partner can be Accrual or Redemption or both. The conversion
factor is applicable for both prepaid billing and postpaid billing. When you define the
partner currency, based on the partner type, you must provide the conversion factor. For the
Accrual partner type, provide the accrual conversion factor. For the Redemption partner type,
provide the redemption conversion factor. If the partner type is both accrual and redemption,
provide both the accrual and redemption conversion factors.
For prepaid billing, the points balance includes the point packs that partners purchase from
the loyalty program. These points aren’t associated with any currency.
Accrual Conversion Factor
The factor that’s multiplied by the number of points that are accrued by a member for a
partner transaction. Accrual Conversion Factor determines the number of points to debit from
the partner’s points balance or balance amount. For example, if the accrual conversion
factor is 0.5, 50 points are debited from the partner’s points balance or balance amount
when a member accrues 100 points for a partner transaction.
Redemption Conversion Factor
The factor that’s multiplied by the number of points that are redeemed by a member for a
partner transaction. Redemption Conversion Factor determines the number of points to be
added to the partner’s credited points (prepaid billing) or balance amount (postpaid
billing).
Example
A loyalty program has two non-qualifying currencies and one qualifying currency. A partner
who uses prepaid billing offers products and services for both accruals and redemptions. The
partner is billed for only one non-qualifying currency named Reward Points. The partner is
billed 0.5 points for each point that the member accrues for a partner transaction. For
redemptions, the partner is billed 1 point for every point redeemed.
In the partner’s Loyalty Program Partner Currency record, these values are provided:
Loyalty Program Currency: Reward Points
Accrual Conversion Factor: 0.5
Redemption Conversion Factor: 1.00
When a member accrues 50 points for a partner transaction, 25 points are deducted from the
partner’s points balance and added to the partner’s debited points.
