Policy Types Available in Policy Center
Policy Center offers these policy types for different tools in the Salesforce ecosystem.

Data Security
Use this policy type to protect sensitive information in Data 360 by ensuring that only authorized users can access specific data. Data Security policies help your org stay compliant with data privacy laws by limiting user access to sensitive customer data.
Data Security policies require a Data 360 integration with the governance feature enabled. For more information, see About Salesforce Data 360.
Data Detect
Use this policy type to scan your org for sensitive data that you want to remove or obfuscate. Data Detect policies help your org stay compliant with data privacy laws by identifying sensitive data that you can take steps to protect.
Data Detect policies require the Data Detect app. For more information, see Data Detect.
Data Retention
Use this policy type to manage the data lifecycle by automating retention, deletion, and masking of sensitive data. Data Retention policies help you obfuscate and minimize the amount of data stored in your org to stay compliant with data privacy laws.
These policies require the Privacy Center app. For more information, see Privacy Center: Satisfy Customer Requests and Data Privacy Laws.
Data Mask
Use this policy type to mask or delete sensitive data in sandbox environments. Data Mask policies are a useful tool for admins and developers to securely handle sensitive data while testing changes that they’re making in sandbox environments.

Data Backup
Use this policy type to create backups of customer data that you can use to restore data at any time. Data Backup policies help protect your org from permanent data loss by automatically generating backups according to your specifications.

Data Archive
Use this policy type to externally store expired or unused data so that your org stays efficient and compliant. Salesforce Archive helps you automate how and when data is archived, and keep a record of data for trend analyses.
