Use Salesforce Authenticator TOTP Codes If You’re Offline or Push Notifications Are Unavailable

Use Salesforce Authenticator TOTP Codes If You’re Offline or Push Notifications Are Unavailable

If your mobile device doesn’t have a data connection or if push notifications from Salesforce Authenticator aren’t working, you can still log in with multi factor authentication (MFA). Simply enter a time-based one-time password (TOTP) code from the app to verify your identity. Salesforce Authenticator automatically generates TOTP codes for each of your connected accounts, even when push notifications are unavailable.

          Required Editions

          Available in: All Editions
          1. Log in to Salesforce, or try to access a restricted resource in Salesforce.
          2. If prompted to check your mobile device, click Having Trouble?
            Tip
Tip If push notifications are unavailable because of a temporary service outage, you’re automatically redirected to the next screen and prompted for a verification code.
          3. When prompted to enter a verification code, open Salesforce Authenticator to view your accounts list.
          4. Enter the six-digit code for the account that you’re logging in to.
          5. Click Verify.
          Note
Note TOTP codes are re-generated periodically. Enter a code before it expires, or wait for the next code to appear.
