Manage Push Notifications for Salesforce Authenticator

Manage Push Notifications for Salesforce Authenticator

To improve your verification experience, we recommend that you enable push notifications. Push notifications are a fast and easy way to approve verification requests. Check whether you allow push notifications for Salesforce Authenticator, and enable them with a one-tap link to your device settings.

          Required Editions

Salesforce Authenticator setup available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
Multi-factor authentication with Salesforce Authenticator available in: all editions

The push notifications feature can be enabled only if you have at least one Salesforce ecosystem account connected to the app. These accounts make up the Salesforce ecosystem.

          • Salesforce.com
          • Commerce Cloud
          • Heroku
          • Sales Cloud
          • Marketing Cloud
          • MuleSoft
          • Quip
          • Tableau

When you allow push notifications, you’re instantly notified about verification requests so that you can approve them right away.

If you don’t allow push notifications, Salesforce Authenticator still sends verification requests, but you don’t see them unless you manually open the app. Without push notifications, you can miss verification requests before they time out.

To manage your notification settings, follow the steps for your operating system.

          Note
Note To approve requests without responding to push notifications, consider using Einstein Automation to automatically trust requests that you approve three or more times. To use this feature, we still recommend enabling push notifications so that you get the first few requests. See Let Salesforce Authenticator Intelligently Save Your Trusted Requests.

          iOS Users

          1. To check whether you allow push notifications, in the Salesforce Authenticator app, tap Salesforce Authenticator settings page icon.
Your notification status is displayed under Push Notifications.
          2. To turn on push notifications, tap Change in Settings.
Salesforce Authenticator redirects you to your device’s Notifications settings for Authenticator.

          4. To get notifications even when you’re using Focus settings, such as Do Not Disturb, Work, or Sleep, turn on Time Sensitive Notifications. This setting overrides any notification settings for a specific Focus. We recommend that you enable this setting so that you don’t miss verification requests.
